Meet the Founders
Jessie Sander
Jessie Sander (she/her) is a Jewish special educator, curriculum writer, and learning specialist. Despite being told she would “never again work in Jewish education” because of her anti-Zionism, Jessie loves collaborating with other anti-Zionist Jewish educators and is excited about the future of Jewish education. In addition to working with Jewish communities on issues of accessibility, equity, and anti-oppression in education, she enjoys Torah study, midrash, and the history of Jewish diaspora.
She holds a degree in Africana and Puerto Rican/Latino Studies from CUNY Hunter, a Master’s of Teaching Students with Disabilities from Pace University, and a Master’s of Jewish Professional Studies from Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership.
Elana Lipkin
Elana Lipkin (they/them) received their BA in Sociology and Women's Gender and Sexuality Studies from American University in 2019 and their Masters of Science in Social Work from Columbia University in May 2022. Elana is a queer, abolitionist social worker who works as a therapist in a community mental health clinic.
Elana loves Jewish mysticism and spirituality, the ways that Judaism and the natural world reflect each other, and making Judaism accessible to all who wish to learn from it. They celebrate radical Judaism and the power of queer, anti-zionist Jewish community, and looks forward to being part of the re-birth that follows the fall of empires.
